MYSTERY OF ZARAUTSAY
The Surkhan oasis’ visual arts have an ancient history. The earliest
examples of primitive art originate from the late Paleolithic period (40- to 12-th millennium BC).
Imagination serves to convey its own concept and spiritual culture
to
the primitive man.
Gradually, various forms and manifestations of human activity have
emerged. The emergence of art has become a great stage in human history. The
Surkhandarya oasis found a photograph of a stone with a dye on the shores of
Zarautsoy near the Kyzylalma village of Sherobod district.
These pictures are the oldest rock paintings on the territory of
Uzbekistan. More than 200 paintings of primitive art, made in the Zarautsay
gorge in the east slope of the Kohitang Mountain in the southwest of the Gissar
Range, belong to the Mesolith, Neolithic and later periods. The drawings are
drawn in the form of drawing and shaded with red angob (arrow). Zarautsoy
pictures depict the scenes of hunting of wild bulls by dogs.
Animals (wild bulls, dogs, foxes, wild boars, royal goats, jackals,
mountain goats, insects, etc.), various articles (bullets, spears, sickles),
masked people and so on. it is alien to reality. Zarautsai’s paintings are
included in the Red Book as a unique monument of primitive art. They are mainly
painted in red-ohio colors. The oldest monument of Surkhondaryoia to Mesolithic
period (12th-7th centuries BC) is the oldest monument.
