1300 corruption-related crimes have been identified since the beginning of the year

Against the Corruption and Econim Crimes Management and its local systems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan have revealed more than 1300 crimes against economic and corruption crimes in the past year.

These crimes include bribery, fraud, violation of currency rules, fraudulent money libel, robbery and other kinds of situations. As a result of instant search, 374 crimes were divulged and people who committed crimes were prosecuted. Material damage caused by the crime is provided.

Specialists of the center for public opinion studies have learned citizens' attitudes about combatir corruption for 2017 and 2018 years. It is reported by “Xalq so'zi” (People's Word).

The majority of the repondents (91,5%) are supporting legislative iniative of the head of state to eliminate the roots of corruption in society.

More than half (58,8%) of the respondents, especially from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, Syrdarya and Surkhandarya Regions, think that there is corruption in society. Surveys show that the urban area population who highlighted the exintence of corruption in society is higher than in the rural areas.

76,3% of respondents think that corruption is not everwhere, but there are some areas of society For example, 37,6% of respondents said that corruption was more done in healthcare. The next was education by 31,4%.

One of every four respondents thought there was corruption in law enforcement officilas. Moreover, the corruption was done in some official places such as employment, social security, utilities, banking, tax and customs offices and authority.

The staff of the Center tried to identify the roots of the problem. 64,4% of respondents suppose that corruption on legal, 51% - econimical, 46,3% - social, 45,8% - moral.

The desire of to get rich entails corruption in government officials. At the same time, financial rewards or other gifts which people give to solve problems also can lead to corruption. So it is impotant to raise the legal culture of the population and develop standards for anti-corruption.

As a result of corruption, the number of citizens indicating that the legal framework which has no been improved has dropped by 8%. Disrespect for the law, and the lack of transparency of local authorities' activities, are also reported as cause of corruption.
